IR flame detection
Meggitt's flame detector reacts to the infra-red radiation emitted by flickering flames, and should be used in premises where, due to formation of smoke from work processes, smoke detectors alone are unsuitable.
The detector does not react to constant modulated radiation characteristic of artificial lighting, sunlight, or welding. This provides the crew with a detector that will detect flames or explosions within milliseconds, yet will not alarm under the extreme shipboard conditions.
